Plastic Prototype Options

K-Tooling

A cast tooling method done at half the cost of a cut tool, this process is good for sizes up to 2 square feet. The more geometry there is, the more the savings. It starts with a hardened epoxy skin cast over a RP pattern, backed with a steel/epoxy mix. Production grade material is shot for the parts. Lead time: 3-4 weeks.

Cut Tool

These prototype tools are built for speed and low volumes. Cut in the USA or the Far East, we can run almost any size or volume of parts. We can also cut hard steel tools. Lead time: 2-8 weeks.

Proto-Roto Molding

One of the few methods for prototyping a rotation molded part, we cast a hard skin epoxy over a pattern and reinforce the backing with layers of fiberglass becoming the tool. This sandwiched mold is put into a roto-type press that rotates the polyurethane material. Lead time: 3-4 weeks.

Cast Tools and Cut Tools each have their own place, depending upon the needs of your project. Factors taken into account include part size, material, tolerance, cost, and lead time.
